Google’s Gemini App Crosses 750 Million Monthly Users as AI Adoption Accelerates
Google’s AI chatbot Gemini has reached a major milestone, surpassing 750 million monthly active users (MAUs), according to the company’s Q4 2025 earnings report. The achievement highlights the rapid consumer adoption of Gemini as it cements its position as one of the leading AI platforms in a highly competitive market.
Rapid Growth in a Short Time
Just one quarter earlier, Google reported 650 million monthly active users for Gemini. The sharp increase underscores growing user interest and engagement with Google’s AI offerings.
By comparison, Meta AI currently reports close to 500 million monthly users, while ChatGPT remains the market leader with an estimated 810 million MAUs in late 2025. While Gemini still trails ChatGPT, its growth trajectory suggests narrowing competition in the global AI chatbot race.
Gemini 3 Drives Momentum
The surge in users closely follows the launch of Gemini 3, Google’s most advanced AI model to date. The company says Gemini 3 delivers a new level of depth, nuance, and reasoning in its responses.
CEO Sundar Pichai described the rollout of Gemini 3 in AI mode as a “positive driver” of user growth, emphasizing that ongoing investment and rapid iteration will help sustain momentum.
Affordable Pricing Expands Reach
To broaden adoption, Google recently introduced Google AI Plus, a more affordable subscription plan priced at $7.99 per month. While the plan launched too recently to affect Q4 numbers, it is expected to attract more budget-conscious users and further expand Gemini’s user base.
“We are focused on a free tier and subscriptions and seeing great growth,” said Philipp Schindler, Google’s chief business officer, during the earnings call.
AI Fuels Alphabet’s Record Revenue
Gemini’s expansion coincides with a landmark financial achievement for Alphabet, which surpassed $400 billion in annual revenue for the first time. Google credits much of this success to increased demand across its AI division.
The company has also strengthened its AI infrastructure by unveiling Ironwood, the latest generation of its TPU AI accelerator chip, designed to compete directly with Nvidia’s hardware dominance.
Gemini at the Center of Google’s AI Strategy
According to Pichai, Google’s first-party AI models—including Gemini—now process over 10 billion tokens per minute through direct API usage. The Gemini app itself has grown into a massive consumer platform, while AI-driven features continue to boost search usage across Google’s ecosystem.
As competition intensifies, Gemini’s rapid growth signals Google’s determination to remain a dominant force in the global AI landscape.
