Google Chrome Now Autofills Your Passport, Driver’s License, and Vehicle Registration Details
In a major update, Google Chrome is taking its autofill feature to the next level. The browser can now automatically fill in important personal details such as your passport number, driver’s license, and vehicle registration information — making online form-filling faster and more convenient than ever.
Previously, Chrome’s autofill handled basic information like addresses, passwords, and payment details. With this new update, desktop users who have enhanced autofill enabled will see their government-issued ID details and vehicle information — including license plate numbers and VINs — instantly appear when prompted on supported websites.
Smarter, Safer, and More Accurate Autofill
Google says this update improves Chrome’s understanding of complex forms and varied formatting requirements, resulting in better accuracy across the web. Importantly, the tech giant emphasizes user control and data security. Chrome only saves your personal information with your permission, and all stored data is protected through encryption.
Before filling in any sensitive details, Chrome will always ask for confirmation, ensuring your data stays secure even on shared or public devices.
Global Rollout and What’s Next
The new autofill capabilities are available worldwide in all languages starting Monday. In the coming months, Google will also support additional data types.
This update is part of Google’s broader effort to make Chrome more intelligent and AI-powered amid growing competition from new AI browsers. Recently, Google integrated Gemini AI into Chrome for Mac and Windows users in the U.S., bringing smarter search, security, and automation features to the browser.
Additional updates include tools that automatically disable notifications from inactive sites, improved account switching, and AI-powered scam detection to enhance user safety.
With these innovations, Google Chrome continues to solidify its position as the most advanced and user-friendly web browser, balancing convenience with robust privacy protection.
