Walmart and Wing Expand Drone Delivery to Five More Major U.S. Cities
Walmart is taking retail convenience to new heights—literally. The retail giant has teamed up with Alphabet-owned Wing to expand drone delivery services to five additional U.S. cities: Atlanta, Charlotte, Houston, Orlando, and Tampa. This move adds to their growing presence in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, where the program first launched in 2023.
With over 100 Walmart stores now participating, this marks a significant step in scaling drone delivery beyond its pilot phase. Wing CEO Adam Woodworth confirmed, “We’re decidedly out of the pilot and trial phase and into scaling up this business.”
The partnership began with a pilot program in Dallas, reaching 60,000 homes. That number has now expanded nearly five-fold. Walmart’s SVP of Transformation and Innovation, Greg Cathey, emphasized the company’s mission to redefine retail, stating, “We’re pushing the boundaries of convenience to better serve our customers.”
Wing, also collaborating with DoorDash, plans to continue expanding into food delivery. As the demand for faster, tech-powered shopping grows, drone delivery may soon become a standard in U.S. retail logistics.
