Tech Startup Mach Industries Set to Raise $100 Million: A Rising Star in Defense Technology
Defense Tech Startup Mach Industries Nabs $100M
Mach Industries, the hot defense tech startup, is closing in on a $100M round. According to sources, the round is co-led by new investor Khosla Ventures and existing backer Bedrock Capital. Khosla’s lead is Keith Rabois.
Valuation Hits $470M
With this round, Mach Industries’ valuation is expected to be $470M. Terms are still fluid as the deal has not closed yet. The valuation increase is a vote of confidence in the company’s vision and tech.
The Teen Founder
Founded by Ethan Thornton, a 21 year old who dropped out of MIT, Mach Industries is not your average defense startup. Thornton’s decision to leave academia and go all in on innovation led to the first ever defense tech investment by Sequoia Capital. This gave the company early credibility and momentum in the defense space.
Next Gen Military Tech
Mach is pushing the boundaries by developing vertical liftoff vehicles and high performance weapons systems that can operate near space. They have not yet finished. Additionally, the business is creating modular micro-factories to offer globally deployable, scalable production solutions.
Strategic Strike: A Game Changer for the Army
The Army Applications Laboratory chose Mach in March to develop the “Strategic Strike” precision cruise missile, which has the ability to lift off vertically. This establishes a strategic alliance between the corporation and the US military, which is significant for the company.
New Factory in Huntington Beach, California
To support development and production, Mach Industries will open its first factory a 115,000 sq ft facility in Huntington Beach, California. This is the transition from prototype to scale, a big milestone for any startup.
Strong Investment History
Before this $100M round, Mach Industries had raised about $85M. That included a $5.7M seed led by Sequoia Capital in June 2023. A few months later, Bedrock Capital led the $79M Series A with Geoff Lewis at the helm. The company will now have raised around $185M, a big number for a young company.
Defense Tech Has a Bright Future
With vision, backing and innovation, Mach Industries is ready to lead the next gen of defense tech. As the world gets more volatile, nations are turning to agile startups for game changing solutions. Mach is ready.
Stay tuned for more updates as this deal closes and the future of warfare gets a technological overhaul.
