No company has dominated the AI revolution quite like Nvidia. Since the rise of ChatGPT and the global boom in generative AI, Nvidia’s growth has been nothing short of extraordinary. Its revenue, profits, and market capitalization now an astonishing $4.5 trillion, reflect the company’s central role in powering today’s AI ecosystem.

But Nvidia isn’t just selling GPUs anymore. It’s building the future of AI through aggressive startup investments worldwide. From autonomous vehicles and humanoid robots to advanced data centers and AI-driven healthcare, Nvidia is fueling innovation across industries.

Nvidia’s Expanding AI Investment Portfolio

According to PitchBook data, Nvidia participated in 50 venture capital deals in 2025, already surpassing its total from 2024. Its corporate venture arm, NVentures, has also accelerated its pace — engaging in 21 deals this year, up from just one in 2022.

The company’s mission is clear: expand the AI ecosystem by backing “game changers and market makers.” Nvidia’s investments showcase how deeply it’s embedding itself in the AI value chain, from chips and infrastructure to software and research labs.

The Billion-Dollar Investment Club

Here are some of Nvidia’s biggest bets, each representing a cornerstone of the modern AI landscape:

  • OpenAI – Nvidia invested $100 million in the ChatGPT creator as part of a massive $6.6 billion round, and pledged up to $100 billion in a long-term strategic partnership.

  • xAI – Elon Musk’s AI startup secured $6 billion, with Nvidia playing a key role and committing an additional $2 billion to support AI infrastructure.

  • Mistral AI – Nvidia’s third investment in this French AI powerhouse, with a €1.7 billion ($2B) Series C round.

  • Reflection AI – Nvidia led a $2 billion round for this emerging U.S.-based LLM developer.

  • Thinking Machines Lab – Backed by Nvidia in a $2 billion seed round, this new venture is led by former OpenAI CTO Mira Murati.

Other major investments include Inflection, Wayve, Figure AI, and Scale AI — each raising more than a billion dollars with Nvidia’s participation.

The Hundreds-of-Millions Investment Tier

Nvidia’s influence extends beyond billion-dollar rounds. The company has participated in numerous $100M–$900M fundraises, including:

  • Commonwealth Fusion – $863 million raised for next-gen nuclear fusion energy.

  • Cohere – $500 million Series D for enterprise LLMs.

  • Perplexity AI – $500 million for its fast-growing AI search engine.

  • Poolside, Lambda, and Together AI – All building critical cloud and model training infrastructure powered by Nvidia GPUs.

  • Firmus Technologies – $215 million to build an AI data center in Australia.

  • Sakana AI – $214 million Series A from Japan for efficient generative AI models.

These deals highlight Nvidia’s strategy, investing not just in software, but in the hardware, energy, and data infrastructure that make AI scalable and sustainable.

Strategic Investments in AI Specialization

Nvidia’s portfolio also includes specialized startups redefining AI applications:

  • Hippocratic AI – $141 million raised for healthcare-focused LLMs.

  • Runway – $308 million for generative AI media tools.

  • Ayar Labs – $155 million for optical interconnects that improve AI compute efficiency.

  • Weka, Reka AI, and Bright Machines – Advancing data management, research, and smart robotics.

Each of these investments aligns with Nvidia’s broader goal: to accelerate AI adoption across every industry.

Conclusion: Nvidia’s AI Empire Keeps Growing

From startups building next-gen humanoids to firms powering sustainable data centers, Nvidia’s reach across the AI landscape is immense. It’s no longer just the GPU supplier — it’s the architect of the global AI ecosystem.

With dozens of strategic partnerships and billions poured into innovation, Nvidia is ensuring that its technology and influence stays at the center of the AI revolution for years to come.
