CoreWeave Acquires Weights & Biases for $1.7B to Boost AI Development

The Information reports that CoreWeave, a powerful Nvidia-supported data centre company, has taken over AI developer platform Weights & Biases in a huge deal worth $1.7 billion.

Weights & Biases is the product of Lukas Biewald, Chris Van Pelt, and Shawn Lewis, who founded the company in 2017. Thanks to its widespread adoption among such companies as AstraZeneca and Nvidia, Weights & Biases. That helps develop AI technology for more than 1,400 organizations.

The startup, which was worth $1.25 billion in 2023, was in the middle of preparations to launch an IPO when it was acquired. CoreWeave’s decision to purchase Weights & Biases will make it possible for CoreWeave to extend its cloud services with artificial intelligence. And to also move paperlessly from design to production, hence helping businesses to promptly advance on their AI roadmaps. Despite its purchase, Weights & Biases’ clients can still host the workloads on their preferred platforms.

This decision reinforces CoreWeave as a dominant player in AI’s infrastructure overall, through their commitment to creating ingenious AI projects.
