Apple Hosts Labrinth for an Overnight Live Songwriting Session to Promote MacBook Pro

Apple is taking an unconventional route to market its latest MacBook Pro: inviting a working musician to build a song from nothing inside one of its stores, overnight, with the entire process streamed to the public.

British singer-songwriter and producer Labrinth has signed on for the experiment, according to a report by Digital Trends. The session is designed to show the messy, iterative work that happens before a finished track reaches listeners, using Apple's own hardware and software as the tools of choice.

A Night Inside the Tower Theatre Store

Labrinth will spend the whole night at Apple's Tower Theatre location in Los Angeles, a retail store housed in a restored historic cinema. His goal is to create a complete song from scratch over the course of the session.

The event begins on November 4 at 8 p.m. Pacific time. Apple says this marks the first time an artist has stayed overnight in one of its retail stores to make music.

Streamed Live With Room for Fan Questions

The full session will be broadcast live on Labrinth's YouTube channel. Viewers will be able to follow along as he works and will also have the chance to put questions to him during the stream.

The finished track is scheduled for release the following week. No details have been shared yet about the style or genre of the song he intends to make.

Why Apple Chose Labrinth

Labrinth has a long track record both as a performer and as a producer for major names in the industry. His own catalogue includes songs such as Jealous, Earthquake and Beneath Your Beautiful.

He is also well known for composing the soundtrack to HBO's Euphoria, which includes the Emmy-winning song All for Us featuring Zendaya. In addition, he is a member of the supergroup LSD alongside Sia and Diplo.

That mix of songwriting, production and screen composition makes him a credible face for a laptop pitched at creative professionals who need to handle demanding audio work.

The Hardware and Software Behind the Session

Labrinth will be working on Apple's newest MacBook Pro paired with Logic Pro, the company's professional music production application. Logic Pro has long been one of the main reasons musicians and producers stay within the Mac ecosystem.

The new MacBook Pro introduces a touch-enabled ProLED XDR display built on tandem OLED technology. The laptop goes on sale November 6, just two days after the live session begins.

What the Stunt Signals for Creators and Marketers

The event reflects a broader shift in how technology companies market professional tools: rather than relying on specification sheets, they are showing real creative work happening in real time. A live, unedited session also carries risk, which can make it more persuasive to skeptical professionals.

For independent musicians and creative entrepreneurs, the stream offers a rare look at how an established producer structures a song under time pressure. For Apple, it ties a hardware launch directly to its retail spaces and software, reinforcing the idea that its stores can double as venues for creative work.
