Former Sequoia Partner Launches AI Calendar Startup Blockit

Scheduling meetings has always been surprisingly hard. Endless email threads. Back-and-forth availability. Missed slots.

A former Sequoia Capital partner believes AI can finally fix that.

From Venture Capital to Founder Mode

Kais Khimji spent six years as a partner at Sequoia Capital, one of the world’s most influential venture firms. But like many investors before him, he always wanted to build something of his own.

Now, he’s doing exactly that.

Khimji has launched Blockit, an AI-powered calendar scheduling startup built on an idea he first explored while studying at Harvard nearly a decade ago. In a strong vote of confidence, Sequoia itself led Blockit’s $5 million seed round.

Sequoia partner Pat Grady believes Blockit could become a $1 billion-plus revenue business.

What Makes Blockit Different?

Calendar tools aren’t new. Companies like Calendly, Clara Labs, and x.ai have tried to simplify scheduling before.

Blockit takes a very different approach.

Instead of sharing booking links or requiring manual coordination, Blockit uses AI agents that negotiate directly with each other.

Think of it as an AI social network for time.

Each user has an AI agent connected to their calendar. When two people need to meet, their agents communicate, negotiate, and finalize a meeting — without any human back-and-forth.

No emails.
Not links.
No friction.

How Blockit Works

Using Blockit is simple:

  • CC the Blockit agent on an email

  • Or message it in Slack

From there, the AI handles everything:

  • Finds mutual availability

  • Negotiates timing

  • Selects locations

  • Respects user preferences

Users can define detailed rules.
For example:

  • Which meetings are non-negotiable

  • Which events can move

  • When skipping lunch is acceptable

The AI adapts just like a human executive assistant would.

Smart Scheduling With Context Awareness

One of Blockit’s most interesting features is context-based prioritization.

Users can train the AI to:

  • Prioritize formal emails over casual ones

  • Detect urgency from tone

  • Understand subtle social cues

A meeting request signed with “Best regards” might outrank one ending with “Cheers.”

This aligns with what investors call “context graphs” — AI systems that understand not just what decisions are made, but why they matter.

Strong Early Adoption

Blockit is already gaining traction.

More than 200 companies are using the platform, including:

  • Together.ai

  • Brex

  • Rogo

  • Venture firms like a16z, Accel, and Index

That early adoption signals real demand for smarter, autonomous scheduling.

Pricing and Availability

Blockit offers:

  • 30-day free trial

After that:

  • $1,000 per year for individual users

  • $5,000 per year for team licenses with multi-user support

The pricing reflects its positioning as a premium AI productivity tool, not a basic calendar add-on.

The Bigger Picture

Blockit isn’t just about saving time.

It’s about letting AI understand how humans value time.

By turning calendars into intelligent, negotiating agents, Blockit aims to remove one of the most persistent inefficiencies in modern work.

And with Sequoia backing its former partner, this AI scheduling startup is one to watch.
