Glīd Wins Startup Battlefield 2025: How a Simple Idea Is Transforming Global Logistics
Glīd has officially taken the spotlight at Startup Battlefield 2025, winning the top prize for its mission to make logistics simpler, safer, and smarter. Led by CEO and founder Kevin Damoa, the company is rethinking how heavy cargo moves across roads and rail — a problem Damoa first experienced during his early days in the U.S. Army.
A Real Problem That Sparked a Big Idea
As a young enlistee, Damoa worked on teams loading tanks and Bradley fighting vehicles onto railroads. He quickly learned that while trains avoid road traffic, the process of getting cargo from trucks to trains is slow, complex, and full of inefficiencies.
Years later, that experience turned into Glīd — a logistics infrastructure company building hardware and software to simplify the entire container movement process.
From Battlefield Challenges to the TechCrunch Stage
Fast forward to 2025. Damoa stood on the TechCrunch Disrupt stage holding the giant check after beating 200 startups. In an episode of Build Mode, TechCrunch’s podcast for builders, he explained how Glīd created and launched three major products almost at the same time.
The toughest part?
Making sure the software worked perfectly during a live demo.
As Damoa said, “It takes an army of people to build good software,” and Glīd definitely didn’t have an army. But the pressure pushed the team to focus, refine, and deliver.
Momentum, Mindfulness, and the Next Phase
Fresh off their win, Glīd is already moving fast:
-
A pilot program is underway with Great Plains Industrial Park
-
Their next product, Glīder, is set to launch soon
-
The company is hiring across almost every department
Interestingly, Glīd’s hiring process is simple and human-driven. Damoa describes it as an “organic process,” where a vibe check and résumé review can quickly lead to onboarding. He believes this approach attracts people who are mission-driven, focused, and mindful.
This fits perfectly with his leadership style — when he learned Glīd made the top five finalists at Startup Battlefield, his first response was:
“I’m going to meditate.”
A Human-Centric, Mission-Driven Startup
Glīd’s culture shows that logistics innovation isn’t only about machines, hardware, or software. It’s about people. Their team is united by purpose, discipline, and clarity — qualities that helped them shine on the Disrupt stage.
