Meta Unveils Ray-Ban Smart Glasses with Built-In Display and Neural Band Controller
Meta has officially launched its next-generation smart glasses, Meta Ray-Ban Display, at the annual Meta Connect 2025 conference. Designed in partnership with EssilorLuxottica, the glasses combine Ray-Ban’s iconic style with advanced technology, offering users a new way to experience apps, navigation, and communication directly from their eyewear.
A Display Built Into Your Glasses
Unlike earlier versions, the Meta Ray-Ban Display comes with a built-in lens display that lets users view apps, alerts, directions, and even live translations without needing a smartphone. Popular Meta apps such as Instagram, WhatsApp, and Facebook can now be accessed seamlessly through the glasses.
Powered by the Meta Neural Band
The Meta Neural Band is a bracelet that employs electromyography (EMG) to pick up on little hand gestures to control the smart eyewear. Shaped like a Fitbit without a screen, the Neural Band offers 18 hours of battery life and water resistance, making it both practical and innovative. This gesture-based control represents Meta’s vision of the future of human-computer interaction.
Features That Redefine Smart Glasses
-
AI-powered assistant for real-time help.
-
Built-in cameras, speakers, and microphones for communication and media.
-
Cloud connectivity to access the internet and social media apps.
-
Lightweight Ray-Ban design for everyday use.
Pricing and Availability
Meta Ray-Ban Display will be available starting September 30, 2025, with a retail price of $799.
The Race for Smart Glasses Dominance
While last year’s Orion prototype showcased advanced AR lenses and eye-tracking, the Meta Ray-Ban Display focuses on simplicity and accessibility. Meta is aiming to capture the market early, though competition from Google and Apple smart glasses is expected in the coming years.
Final Thoughts
With the Meta Ray-Ban Smart Glasses, Meta is taking a major step toward making smart glasses mainstream. By blending stylish eyewear with powerful AI-driven features, Meta hopes to move beyond smartphones and redefine how users connect to the digital world.
