Why SecurityPal is Choosing ‘Nuanced Capital’ Over More VC Rounds
In the wake of the venture capital crash of 2022, many startups faced a harsh reality: scaling at all costs doesn’t always guarantee survival. SecurityPal founder Pukar Hamal found himself just 14 months away from running out of money. Instead of rushing to raise another funding round, he chose a different path one he calls “nuanced capital.”
Unlike the traditional startup fundraising model that thrives on constant VC injections and hyper-growth, nuanced capital emphasizes profitability, cash flow positivity, and sustainable growth. SecurityPal hasn’t raised since its $21 million Series A in 2021, yet it continues to thrive.
This strategy shows that startups, even those in competitive industries like AI and cybersecurity, don’t always need to chase endless venture rounds. By restructuring during the downturn, Hamal proved that focusing on operational efficiency and long-term sustainability can be just as powerful.
Another unique aspect of Hamal’s vision is the “Silicon Peaks” initiative, aimed at building a thriving startup ecosystem in Kathmandu, Nepal, showcasing that innovation isn’t limited to Silicon Valley.
For AI founders and entrepreneurs, the takeaway is clear: raising capital isn’t the only path to success. Sometimes, choosing nuanced capital over aggressive fundraising may be the smarter long-term strategy.
