OpenArt’s One-Click Story Feature: Former Googlers Launch AI Tool to Create Viral ‘Brain Rot’ Videos
AI-generated videos — from a shark wearing sneakers to a ballerina with a cappuccino for a head — are taking over the internet, and OpenArt is leading the charge. Founded in 2022 by two former Google employees, this AI startup now boasts 3 million monthly active users and is making it easier than ever to create viral content.
Its latest innovation, the One-Click Story feature, lets users turn a sentence, script, or even a song into a one-minute animated video with a complete story arc. Creators can choose from three templates: Character Vlog, Music Video, or Explainer, with the ability to refine each scene using storyboard editing. The platform supports over 50 AI models, including DALLE-3, GPT, Imagen, Flux Kontext, and Stable Diffusion.
While OpenArt aims to lower barriers for AI creators, it also navigates challenges like intellectual property rights and the risk of content misuse. The company uses filters to block copyrighted characters, though some still slip through. CEO Coco Mao says OpenArt is open to licensing talks with major IP holders.
OpenArt differentiates itself with character consistency across an entire video, enhancing storytelling immersion. The startup plans to add multi-character conversation videos and a mobile app soon.
Operating on a credit-based subscription model starting at $14/month, OpenArt has raised $5 million from Basis Set Ventures and DCM Ventures. With positive cash flow and projected $20M+ annual revenue, the company is positioned as a major player in AI-powered content creation.
