Aria AI Assistant Comes to Opera Mini for Android Users
Opera is taking mobile browsing to the next level by bringing its AI assistant, Aria, to Opera Mini on Android. This is for users with low-end smartphones and limited data access, especially in areas where data saving is key.
Aria, powered by OpenAI and Google models, gives you instant answers, latest news, image generation and topic exploration. With this, Opera aims to make everyday browsing better while saving data.
“AI is becoming part of the daily internet experience. Bringing Aria to Opera Mini is a natural next step for our most downloaded browser,” said Jørgen Arnesen, EVP Mobile at Opera.
Opera Mini, launched in 2005, is famous for data saving. Despite adding the AI assistant, the app is still lightweight and efficient. Opera’s partnerships with African telcos in the past have given users free data, a model they may expand on as AI features grow.
With over 100 million users and over a billion downloads on Android, Opera Mini is the leading mobile browser globally. As of this year, the app has 7.1 million downloads worldwide, according to App figures.
They are also testing other AI tools like natural language tab control and autonomous task execution. More smart features coming soon.
Opera Mini users can now browse smarter, faster without compromising on data, thanks to Aria.
