Apple to Invest Over $500 Billion in the U.S. to Boost AI, Silicon Engineering and Jobs
Apple has made its biggest investment announcement yet, committing over $500 billion in the U.S. over the next four years. This will drive innovation in artificial intelligence, silicon engineering, and advanced manufacturing and create thousands of jobs.
U.S. Manufacturing and AI Infrastructure
As part of this, Apple will open a new advanced manufacturing facility in Houston, Texas. The 250,000 square foot facility will produce servers for Apple Intelligence, a personal AI system that enhances the user experience. The servers will power Apple’s Private Cloud Compute, ensuring secure AI processing.
Apple will also expand its data centers in North Carolina, Iowa, Oregon, Arizona and Nevada to support its AI-driven ecosystem while powered by 100% renewable energy.
Double Apple’s U.S. Advanced Manufacturing Fund
Apple is increasing its U.S. Advanced Manufacturing Fund from $5 billion to $10 billion to promote high-tech manufacturing. A big chunk of this will go towards silicon production at TSMC’s Fab 21 facility in Arizona where it has already started mass-producing chips.
This will boost U.S. based chip manufacturing and create thousands of high paying jobs. Apple’s silicon suppliers including Broadcom, Texas Instruments, Skyworks and Qorvo will also benefit from this.
R&D and 20,000 new professionals
Apple will expand its R&D across the U.S. and hire 20,000 people in roles focused on silicon engineering, AI, software development and machine learning. It has almost doubled its U.S. R&D spend in the last 5 years and will continue to invest in its innovation hubs across the country.
A big part of Apple’s R&D efforts is the launch of the Apple C1 modem, the most power efficient modem ever in an iPhone. This is a milestone in Apple’s journey to in-house chip development.
Supporting U.S. businesses with a Manufacturing Academy
Apple is launching the Apple Manufacturing Academy in Detroit to help small and medium sized businesses transition to advanced manufacturing. The academy will offer AI driven smart manufacturing training, in-person and online courses and skills development programs in partnership with Michigan State University. And Apple will continue its education and workforce development efforts by expanding programs like the New Silicon Initiative which trains students in chip design. The program now includes a new partnership with UCLA’s Center for Education of Microchip Designers (CEMiD).
Apple’s Economic and Jobs Impact in the U.S.
Apple supports 2.9 million jobs in the U.S. through direct employment, suppliers and app developers. It has paid over $75 billion in U.S. taxes in the last 5 years, $19 billion in 2024 alone.
With this new $500 billion investment Apple product is doubling down on American innovation, job creation and cutting edge technology development for a strong U.S. tech future.
