Kia Starts Second Move & Connect Round, Pledging EVs to 18 Korean Care Institutions

Kia has launched the second edition of Move & Connect, a social contribution program that supplies electric vehicles to care institutions serving vulnerable people across South Korea.

The first vehicle of the new round, an EV5, was handed over on November 4 at the Songpa Family Center in Seoul's Songpa District, according to a report by Seoul Economic Daily. The automaker announced the handover the following day.

Over the coming months, Kia plans to deliver electric vehicles to 18 institutions in total, drawing on a wider lineup of models than in the program's first year.

How the Move & Connect Program Works

The program is funded by Kia's domestic business division and run by Greenlight, a nonprofit organization. Its goal is to equip local care institutions that work directly with vulnerable groups with vehicles suited to their daily operations.

Rather than offering a single standard model, the program provides customized electric vehicles from Kia's range, matching each institution with transport that fits the services it delivers.

Broader Eligibility and More Model Choices

For this second round, Kia widened the list of eligible beneficiaries. In addition to institutions supporting older adults, people with disabilities and children, centers serving multicultural families can now take part.

The vehicle selection has grown as well. The first program offered only the PV5, while this year's edition adds the EV3, EV4 and EV5. Institutions can pick the model that best suits their operating conditions and the needs of the people they support.

An EV5 for Interpreter Services in Seoul

The Songpa Family Center will use its new EV5 for an interpreter accompaniment service. Interpreters travel directly to households that need help and accompany residents on visits to hospitals and government offices.

The service covers the Geoyeo-dong and Macheon-dong areas, which are known for narrow alleys. Kia expects driver assistance features such as the Surround View Monitor and Remote Smart Parking Assist 2 to make it easier for staff to maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The Full Rollout Across 18 Institutions

The Songpa handover is the first of a phased series of donations. In total, Kia will provide five EV3s, five EV4s, five EV5s and three PV5 wheelchair-accessible vehicles to care institutions nationwide.

Alongside the vehicle donations, the company plans to keep running employee volunteer activities in local communities around the country.

A Kia official said that "transportation is essential infrastructure for supporting vulnerable groups," adding that the company aims to offer practical help on the ground after expanding both the beneficiaries and the vehicle range.

What the Program Signals for the EV Industry

Programs like Move & Connect show how automakers are putting electric vehicles into everyday community service, not just private ownership. For care providers, reliable transport can directly shape how many people they reach and how often.

The inclusion of the PV5, a purpose-built van, alongside compact and midsize crossovers also highlights the growing variety of electric models designed for specific jobs. For founders and organizations working in mobility and social services, the initiative is a reminder that practical features and flexible vehicle choices often matter as much as the drivetrain itself.
