Seven Media Group has added two senior lawyers to its leadership team, appointing Adrian Goss as general counsel and Fiona Stuart as executive counsel for entertainment.
The hires come as the business, created through the combination of Seven and SCA, works to build out the corporate functions it needs as one of Australia's newest media companies. According to a report by Mumbrella, the appointments are intended to broaden the group's legal, governance and business affairs capacity.
Adrian Goss Takes Charge of Legal Strategy
In his role as general counsel, Goss oversees legal strategy, corporate governance, enterprise risk and commercial legal operations across the group.
He has more than 25 years of experience in legal, governance and executive roles in Australian and international media. Before joining Seven Media Group, he was vice president of legal and governance at Bauer Media Group, where he ran those functions across the company's European audio markets.
That audio background may prove relevant given the merged group now spans radio and audio alongside television.
Fiona Stuart to Run Entertainment Legal and Business Affairs
Stuart joins the senior leadership team reporting to Goss. She will lead legal and business affairs for the group's entertainment operations.
She brings more than two decades of experience across Australian media, covering television, production, entertainment and commercial dealmaking. Most recently, she was executive general manager of legal, compliance and procurement for the AFC Women's Asian Cup Australia 2026.
A Long Track Record Across Screen and Production
Stuart's earlier career includes several senior legal posts at well-known entertainment businesses. She served as general counsel at cinema operator HOYTS Group and as director of business and legal affairs at Matchbox Pictures.
She also headed legal and business affairs at Screentime Entertainment and spent ten years as senior legal counsel at pay TV provider Foxtel.
Goss said Stuart's production expertise would strengthen an already capable legal team, adding that her role creates opportunities to connect the group's production, content and commercial operations.
Building Out the Merged Seven and SCA Business
Mergers of this scale typically require significant legal and governance work, from integrating contracts and compliance systems to managing risk across previously separate organisations.
Stuart described the timing of her arrival as significant. "I'm incredibly excited to be joining Seven Media Group at this pivotal time," she said, noting that the combination of Seven and SCA unites two influential Australian media organisations.
She said she aims to build a collaborative legal and business affairs function that supports both the creative and commercial goals of the group.
What the Appointments Signal for Australian Media
Seven Media Group now operates across television, audio, digital and publishing, and the company says the strengthened legal team positions it to pursue growth in a shifting media market.
For industry observers, the hires show the merged business prioritising experienced operators with deep ties to both broadcast and production. For founders and executives watching media consolidation, it is a reminder that legal and business affairs leadership is often central to turning a merger into a functioning, integrated company.
