South Korean drugmaker Hanmi Pharmaceutical is partnering with Samsung Securities to stage an investor showcase for early-stage biotech and digital health companies, the latest step in its effort to channel capital toward the country's bio startups.
The event, called the Hanmi x Samsung Securities Bio Innovation Day, will take place on November 27 at Hanmi C&C Square in Seoul's Songpa District. Hanmi announced the plans on November 6, according to a report by Chosunbiz.
A Second Round After a July Debut
This is the second gathering in the series. Hanmi held the first edition in July alongside Kiwoom Securities, and is now bringing in a different brokerage partner for the follow-up.
The November program is organized around the theme of how new drugs and artificial intelligence could shape the future of healthcare, with the stated goal of linking promising bio startups to people who can fund them.
Four AI-Driven Healthcare Startups Take the Stage
Four companies have been selected to present. SleepForest works on AI-based sleep intervention, while EasyCardio applies AI to diagnosing and predicting cardiovascular disease.
PI Healthcare uses retinal imaging for AI-powered diagnosis. Prazer Therapeutics combines AI healthcare with the development of new drugs based on targeted protein degradation, an approach that aims to eliminate disease-causing proteins rather than simply block them.
Taken together, the lineup reflects how heavily AI now features in Korea's early-stage health technology pipeline, spanning both diagnostics and drug discovery.
How the Day Is Structured
The program opens with a presentation on Hanmi's platform for digital-convergence medicinal products, which blends pharmaceutical development with digital technology.
The four startups will then run investor relations sessions and hold one-on-one meetings with attendees, giving founders direct time with potential backers rather than only a stage pitch.
A Small, Curated Investor Audience
The event is aimed at investment professionals, including venture capital and private equity firms, securities companies and asset managers. Attendance is limited to 50 people.
Interested investors can apply through the event page until November 25. Organizers will screen applications and inform each applicant whether they have been accepted.
Hanmi Frames the Event Around Its Own Dealmaking
A Hanmi official pointed to the company's own track record, noting it has closed three technology export deals this year and has seen how innovative technology can win market trust and lead to global partnerships.
The official said the company hopes the event will help startups convert their technologies into investment and business partnerships, and will "contribute to revitalizing the domestic bio and healthcare ecosystem."
What It Signals for Korea's Bio Startup Scene
For founders, programs like this offer a structured path to institutional investors at a time when biotech fundraising often depends on credibility and connections that young companies lack.
For established players such as Hanmi, hosting these showcases with rotating brokerage partners positions the company as a connector in the domestic ecosystem and gives it early visibility into emerging technologies, particularly at the intersection of AI and drug development.
