Apple has pushed out the first developer betas of iOS 27.3, iPadOS 27.3 and macOS 27.3, arriving on November 3, roughly a week after iOS 27.2 became available to the general public.
The update's headline feature is aimed at developers: a preview that lets outside apps hook their content and actions into Siri AI. It also restores a redesigned Health app that was tested and then withdrawn during the iOS 27.2 cycle, and introduces a vertical tab layout in Safari.
According to a report by ShiftDelete.Net, a public release of iOS 27.3 is expected in December, though the third-party Siri features will take longer to reach everyday users.
Siri AI Opens Its Doors to Outside Developers
In a post on its developer site, Apple described a new Developer Preview that allows any app to expose its content and actions to Siri AI using the App Intents framework.
That means the assistant could handle app-specific tasks, such as checking on a package delivery or reserving a restaurant table. Apple is also introducing a system it calls skills, which lets developers link multiple actions together so a single request can trigger a sequence of steps.
For app makers, this is a meaningful shift. Voice assistants have historically been limited in what they could do inside third-party software, and deeper integration could turn Siri into a more practical entry point for apps.
A Long Road Before Users See It
Developers should not expect immediate payoff. Apple said the capability will reach customers "in a few months," and the App Store will only begin accepting Siri AI integrations in the spring.
To help teams prepare, Apple is running online labs for developers on November 4 and 5. The extended runway gives companies time to decide which actions are worth surfacing and how to structure them.
Apple's Own Apps Gain New Siri Actions
While third parties wait, Apple's built-in apps are getting expanded Siri AI support now. The list includes Calendar, Files, Finder, Journal, Mail, Maps, Messages, Music, Notes, Photos, Preview, Reminders, Safari, Shortcuts and Weather.
Some of the examples are small but practical. In Mail, Siri AI can unsubscribe from mailing lists or undo a sent message, while in Safari it can organize and close tabs or wipe the browsing history for a particular site.
On languages, the beta supports Siri AI in English, French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish. Apple has announced that Traditional Chinese, Norwegian, Turkish and Vietnamese are coming soon, but those are not active in the first beta. Separately, Apple has said usage limits on Siri AI will arrive in 2027, with paid tiers for heavier use.
The Redesigned Health App Returns
The overhauled Health app, which appeared in iOS 27.2 betas before being removed ahead of launch, is back in this build. Citing MacRumors, the report notes it adds an Insights tab offering Apple Intelligence-driven guidance, along with a readiness score for owners of the Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4.
A new Longevity tab estimates a user's Health Age using metrics such as resting heart rate, VO2 max, heart rate variability and sleep. The app requires an iPhone that supports Apple Intelligence.
Safari and iPhone Duo Get Interface Tweaks
Safari on iPhone, iPad and Mac now offers an optional Vertical Tabs layout that runs along the left side of the screen, a design that fits the wider display of the iPhone Duo. A new Adaptive Dark Mode presents a Try button on bright websites and generates a darkened version of the page in real time.
The iPhone Duo also receives a sideways take on Reachability, shifting content left or right rather than downward so the far edge of the wide screen is easier to reach with one hand.
What It Means for App Makers and Users
For most iPhone owners, there is nothing to download yet. The bulk of these features is expected with the final iOS 27.3 release in December, alongside Apple's planned Apple Intelligence launch in China.
For startups and app developers, the more important date is the spring App Store opening for Siri AI integrations. Teams that use the coming months to experiment with App Intents and skills may be better positioned when Apple's assistant becomes a real channel for reaching users.
